My Favourite Stock

When you’re a vegetarian or even a vegan, cooking is about layering flavours and adding richness to the dish. Stock plays a leading role in this for me and it’s taken a while to find a stock that works for all occasions.

If I’m making a pot of beans, I consider the aromatics that I add so I can use the broth as stock. If I’m out of bean broth my go to product is Better Than Bouillon, No Chicken Base. Its Vegan and it’s delicious.

Now, some of you may take issue with the fact that it’s pretending to be a chicken stock, and I get that, so this may not be the stock for you.

Some of you may not like the amount of sodium in ‘off the shelf’ stocks, I also understand that, so this may not be for you.

BUT if you are looking for a rich base layer to your cooking, you should give this a try.

They also have a roasted vegetable version that doesn’t pretend to be a chicken.
